FAQ

Are your LSR support rails steel or aluminum?
Due to the need for a higher yield of material and smaller footprint, our Low Support Rails are steel.
Can I check to make sure my shafting is hard by using a file?
No. A file is about 70 Rockwell C scale for the hardness. 10 points is a big difference and will scratch case hardened steel
Can I machine the hardened steel myself?
Yes, but you should do so only if you are familiar with the required machining operations. The LEE 60 Plus shafting offers the highest machinability in case hardened steel.
Do you offer any type of plating to the shafting?
Yes, we offer hard chrome, Armoloy, and electroless nickel for enhanced corrosion resistance. These are usually applied in a thickness of .0001” so they do not flake when used for linear ball bearings.
Do you offer products in 300 series stainless steel?
Yes, we carry some standard inch sizes in 303 stainless. Most other 300 series stainless materials are available as a special order.
Do you offer standard hole patterns?
Yes. We offer standard pre-drilled hole patterns in our shafting and supports, in diameters of ½” to 3”.
Is 50 Plus 440C shafting magnetic?
Yes, in order to harden this grade of stainless steel there needs to be some iron content which is magnetic.
What is the hardness of the 50 Plus® 440C stainless material?
The hardness of 50 Plus 440C material is 50 to 55C on the Rockwell C scale.
What is the hardness of the 60 Plus® material?
The hardness of 60 Plus C1060 material is 60 to 65 on the Rockwell C scale.
What is the lead time on plain shafting that is cut to length?
Standard cut-offs are usually shipped within one working day.
What is the standard length tolerence for cutting?
The standard tolerances are +/- 1/32″ on the 1/4″ through 1-1/4″, +/- 1/16″ on 1-3/8″ through 2″, and +/- 1/8″ on 2-1/2″ and 3″. Tighter tolerances can be maintained at additional cost.
We are designing a system for our new assembly line. Do you offer any help in choosing the right materials and/or sizes?
Yes, we do. LEE Linear has experienced Applications Engineering and Customer Service departments that are available to assist.
What types of linear bearings do you offer?
We offer a large selection of linear ball and plain bearings and will have a bearing that will work with your application. Additionally, LEE Linear is the only worldwide manufacturer of the Roller Bearing Pillow Block.

Can you provide a Certificate of Conformance or Materials Certifications?
Yes, there is a standard charge for this documentation.
Do you offer emergency service?
Yes, we offer emergency service. There may be an additional charge for the rush service.
Do you offer special diameters not listed in your catalog or website?
Yes, but in a quantity or volume which is reasonable.
